We are so thrilled to have won a Sussex Heritage Trust Award for The Farmhouse project, which won a trophy in the Small Residential Category. There were 28 projects entered into this category, with The Farmhouse being one of only two new builds that were recognised this years.

The judges commented:

“A new house which has been meticulously and imaginatively designed to take full advantage of the views to the South Downs.  The internal joinery and fittings have been carefully considered and superbly crafted.  The house, along with the surrounding landscaped forecourt and garden creates a welcoming and calm atmosphere and living environment.”

The project was achieved through a close collaboration between ourselves, the owner Graham (who is also a brilliant architect), the brilliant carpenters Fisher Morrison (who are now our studio neighbours) and landscaping design Tom Stuart-Smith. By working in this way, we achieved something quite beautiful together, which is completed to the highest level of craft detail.

The well-established annual awards have been running for 25 years, set up to celebrate and recognise good architecture across Sussex that demonstrated the highest quality conservation, restoration or good design of newly built projects while encouraging the use of traditional skills and crafts.
